Jagananna Videshi Vidya deevena yojana is a scheme launched by the government of Andhra Pradesh. It helps students from the lower sections of the society to get education in foreign universities like SC, ST, BC, EWS, EBC, minorities, etc.
Under this scheme, the selection of students is done twice a year, one from “September to December” and second from “January to May“.
Therefore the students who are interested to join this program should register online from “1st August to 30th September” and “1st January to 28/29th February“.
What is Jagananna Videshi Vidya scheme?
Jagananna Videshi Vidya deevena means Andhra Pradesh overseas studies scholarship. This scheme was launched by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh on 11th July 2022. This scheme is named from the name of hon’ble Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It provides financial assistance to those students who belong to low- income families and have got their admission in the top 200 Universities of the world as mentioned in the latest QS world university rankings.
This scheme is only applicable for pursuing Post Graduation or PhD from foreign universities and in the case of undergraduate, MBBS only. To be eligible for this scheme, the student should be a native of Andhra Pradesh only, not Telangana or other states.
Scholarship installments
The scholarship awarded to the student is sent into his bank account in 4 installments in case of PG students.
First installment is paid to the students when Immigration card/Landing permit/1-94 card is produced.
Second installment paid after the first semester results.
Third installment is paid after the second semester results
Fourth installment is paid after the completion of 4th semester and uploading the marksheet in the online portal.
In case of PhD or MBBS students more installments are released after their successive results.

Videshi vidya eligibility
To be eligible for the Overseas study scholarship, there are some points that you need to pay heed to:
- The student should be native to Andhra Pradesh.
- The maximum age of the student should be 35 years old.
- The student should have got admission in the top 200 universities of the world as mentioned by the QS world University rankings.
- The yearly income of the family should not be more than ₹ 8 lakh.
- If the student is married then the income of spouse is also taken into consideration.
- It is mandatory to show the salary certificate issued by the employer of the people working in the family.
- Only one child per family can avail this facility.
- The benefit of this scheme can only be used once in a lifetime.
- For PhD course, 60% marks or grades are required in post graduation in Engineering, Management, Pure sciences, Agriculture science, Medicine, Social science, Humanities.
- For PG course, 60% marks or grades are required in undergraduate degree in Engineering, Management, Pure sciences, Agriculture science, Medicine, Social science, Humanities.
- For MBBS course, 60% marks are required in intermediate course.
JVVDD scheme requirements
Apart from being eligible for the scheme the student has to take care of the requirements that are mandatory to be fulfilled for the programs they are applying for.
- The student will have to take his admission in the university on his own.
- When the student gets the allowance for the study abroad he will have to join the university or college within 6 months of getting it. After the expiry of the date he won’t be given extra time and the allowance will stand canceled.
- After the student gets the allowance from the government he is not permitted to change the course.
- A student who has already availed benefit from the government under similar schemes is not permitted to register for this scheme.
- A student should fill out his application form completely otherwise it could be rejected.

The amount that needs to be paid or to be reimbursed under the Jagananna Videshi Vidya scheme depends upon the ranking of the university that the student has got admission into.
- A student who has got admission in one of the top 100 universities of the world as mentioned by the QS world university rankings is liable to get 100% concession on the tuition fees of that University upto ₹1.25 crore for SC, ST, BC, minorities and upto ₹1 crore for EBC.
- A student who has got admission into one of the universities that is ranked between 101 and 200 by the QS world university rankings is eligible to get 50% concession on the tuition fees or ₹50 lacs for EBC and ₹75 lacs for SC, ST, BC, minorities, whichever is less.
